Bill Anderson
Bill Anderson's first hit as an artist was with 'That's What
It's Like To Be Lonesome' in 1959. He followed this with 'The Tips Of My
Fingers' (1960), and 'Po' Folks' (1961), which inspired the Po' Boys, the name
of his band. Anderson had his first Country #1 Hit in 1962 with 'Mama Sang A Sad
Song' and the following year he reached # 8 with 'Still'. During the Vietnam
War, he recorded the patriotic 'Where Have All My Heroes Gone?' For many years
he worked and recorded with Jan Howard and they had a #1 with 'For Loving You'.
He has also recorded with Roy Acuff ('I Wonder If God Loves Country Music') and
with David Allan Coe ('Get A Little Dirt On Your Hands').
