The Marvelettes occupy an esteemed place in the history of popular music as the group that caused Motown! Berry Gordy chose to change the label’s focus from single bluesy soul artists to a smooth orchestrated harmonic sound that transcended the prior racial limits of rhythm and blues. With the Marvelettes first record “Please, Mr Postman,” the group hit the top of the charts selling 3 million records! 

The crossover hit paved the way in the creation of a new group, pop, soul sound that brought us The Marvelettes, Supremes, Temptations, Four Tops and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. The Marvelettes continued their success with the million sellers “Playboy” “Don’t Mess With Bill” and “Beechwood 4-5789.” Top Ten hits include: “Hunter Gets Captured By The Game” “When You’re Young And In Love” “My Baby Must Be A Magician” and “Too Many Fish In The Sea.” The Marvelettes are still in that smooth Motown vein presenting their hits and other great standards with a show that’s highly choreographed, polished, beautiful and humorous!
